Suggest a better way to drain freshwater tank

My older "C" has no low point drain. For years I drained it by pumping the water with the grey valve open. Lately, I decided to pump it by leaving the water heater plug out. I got to wondering if there might be a easy mod that would drain the tank directly. I'm a little adverse to drilling holes in it as it is an older tank. I'm not sure about connecting a hose to the pump directly. Maybe a T and drain valve. Ideas please.

had the same problem on our '85 Winnebago Chieftain. never could find the low point drain despite Winny's claim that there was one. I did the same as you...pumped it through to the gray tank. a PITA but it worked.
  • Put a fresh water dump valve inline before the pump, drilling a small hole through the floor for it.

Leaving the HWT plug out sounds reasonable too.

This, and if you route the hose off the valve correctly, you can use it as a pickup tube for the RV antifreeze when winterizing.
  • The drains are very hard to find on these older units.
I had one that the fresh drain was reachable by lifting the dinette bench. (This is where the fresh water tanks were) and reaching under the fridge. The low point drain was under the shower.
