Toulet foot valve help needed

Question

The toilet valve needs to be changed out. When I took it off the foot lever fell off also. Everything is lined up and tight but when I press the pedal the flapper inside the commode doesn't open. Does anyone have any ideas on why? I've been a member of this forum for many years and it has really helped me in the past! Tha ks in advance

might have to take it completely off sit it out side on a table and watch the action of how it works.or maybe a U tube could help.

The metal part engages a paul at the bottom of the spring assembly. I'd guess it's not properly aligned. also the spring assemble needs to mate with the shaft. Fairly easy to do but you may need to be able to see it.

Final issue. .The plastic shaft they put in oem likes to break. The brass one they replace it with much better. (The shaft that goes into the ball)
