TV Schematic

Has anyone added DISH OR DIRECT TV to this setup? If so do you have a schematic. Thanks to RoyB for the image.

Yes, I attached a jumper cable from middle to right.

Thanks, I will need a separate Dish connector either beside the existing Cable plugin or on top of RV . I haven't decided on a Automatic on top or a tripod.
I need one TV on Dish and have the other one and the ability to switch them. I have it worked out using 3 spliters an 6 slide switches.
That way I can have Dish, Cable or Batwing to each TV. I'm just looking for a simpler way. I thought of replacing BW ant. with Dish and then sliders for the BW.
    Maybe I want too much.

  • You need to be careful with splitters. DTV doesn't like them.

I quit doing any cable or OTA TV, and just do Direct now. Life is simpler that way.

Many have.. I will give you multiple ways.. I'm saving the best for last

Most will disconnect the PARK CABLE lead from that wall plate, Feed the "TO TV" if your Sat receiver offers one, back to that jack and extend the park cable to the Sat Receiver's LNB jack..
Issues I have with this is often that cable is lowest bidder R-59 Which has many times the loss of quality RG-6 (on the average 4x but it can be much higher if you go low-bi on teh 59 and high bid on th 6)

Second, you no longer can get Park cable without re-wiring

Of course not all Sat Receivers have RF out (TO TV antenna type connection) Many today just have A/V and HDMI IN cases like this you will have to HDMI to the TV

    Finally the best

Install a brand new RG-6 (Quality) lead for the LNB feed, HDMI to the TV, Best of all worlds that way.

NOTE: IF the Sat receiver has TO TV and also ANT (not just LNB) you can fe3ed the park cable to the ANT and TO TV back to teh wall plate. Use a new RG-6 Line for the LNB

    Now
Wall Switch off Sat off = Park cable
Wall Switch Off Sat on = Sat
Wall Switch ON = OTA Antenna.

To improve OTA performance (One way to get locals) Repalce wall plate with Winegard Sensar Pro and add Wingman to the antenna if not already there.
  • When I had cable and Direct TV at the house, I used diplexers to send signal through the same wires.
  • Not knowing what type of TV you have, CRT or Flat Panel, I'm not sure my idea is best, but if you have 2 Flat Panels with an RF input and a HDMI (or two) inputs each, I would suggest running a new RG6 cable from the dish connection in a compartment or your roof to a HDMI splitter and then HDMI cables to the TV sets.

The flat panel or LED TVs have an input selection feature in setup or menu and you don't need to run the satellite signal through anything but the splitter.

I bought one(splitter) from ebay for less than $10 to allow me to show the same BluRay movie on both TVs. I bought a 45 foot, high grate HDMI cable for about $15 on ebay to run from the splitter to the rear TV.

Leave the BOMB and RF inputs as they are.

And no unfortunately I don't have a schematic but I'm sure one is available on the net.
  • This is what I did when I first installed my roof dish and still wanted to use my external dish. Some use two diplexers but only one is needed. Using one does put the LNB switching voltage on the TV cable input when you connect to one but the cable system is isolated with a capacitor so the dc voltage does not affect it.
I did it differently late without a diplexer but I( can't find that schematic right now.
