Twin Yamaha 2000 generators

Hello All, I have a chance to purchase 2 Yamaha 2000 generators with side winder hooks for a good price. What I'm wondering is how long will they run on a fuel load running one air conditioner? If anyone has this type of generator twined together I would love to hear any input you can offer. Thanks

Until the knotheads realize overhead cam engines with ECU fuel injection is GREEN, these units will eat gasoline. It is my guesstimate that a changeover would decrease fuel consumption 35%

Having had a Yamaha 2400 and now a Honda EU2000, I can tell you from experience that the Honda is much easier if you're going to run an external tank. My Yamaha was rock solid (but it was also a 2400) and it ran all my goodies without a problem (and a Hard Start Kit), but in order to run an external tank it required a fuel pump (though you could gravity feed it if the planets are in alignment) and a voltage regulator (off the 12volt feed) a fuel pressure regulator to keep it from overflowing the bowl.

it was too much work. If I was just running it for recharging my batteries, I'd say it's perfect. For running my AC with two of them, you'll be stopping every 4 hours to refill or imagineering a fuel delivery system.

I moved to the Honda and I've never looked back.

I will say you can purchase the vacuum operated fuel pump that Honda uses and possibly integrate it into the Yamaha to get the same external tank, but again, it's more imagineering that I want to deal with at this point in my life.

YMMV

10.5 hours @ 1/4 load
4.2 hours @ full throttle.

So if the AC is running at 50 percent duty cycle then a tank should last approx 8 hours.

I bought a single Yamaha 2000 because I was looking for something to run a few things on our houseboat, and I got it at a very good price.

I quickly found out that it would not run everything I wanted, so I bought a 2nd, and run them in parallel.

The Yamahas have been very good and reliable (probably put around 150 hours/year on them, and have had them for at least 6 years. But if I were to do it again, I would buy Hondas for the simple reason that they are much easier to get an extended run fuel tank for. Without fuel pumps on the Yamahas, that does not work very well.

My gens need to be filled about every 8 hours or so. That is a mix of running eco mode and full bore to get the inverter going, microwave, battery chargers, and whatever else is the basic operations of our boat.

I have just the single and it will go 7 hours under a load. Im not impressed with the amount of fuel it uses. I can't say how the twined gen sets will do however.

I'm sure it wouldn't be overnight.
