Wally finding signal

Wally issues - Anyone using the Wally with Dish, and if so do you have trouble getting it set up after setting for a while? I have the SK-1000 Travel'r antenna and I've used it with the Hopper, ViP211z, and now the Wally but the Wally is giving me fits! My Travel'r says all satellites locked, but I run check switch and it can only find one, or none, or two on the Wally. My ViP211z never had that kind of issue. I went to the Wally for the UHF remote but I may be giving it t drop kick to the curb before long and dust off the ViP211z again.

If it has been off for more than about 30 days (not connected to a working properly pointed antenna) then the receiver has been deactivated. I would suggest getting the receiver activated first and then give it another try.

This has been my experience as well. Not to mention, the latest update needs to be uploaded as well.

I am going throw a twist on this. I tried to activate my new wally on a Winegard Mission Roadtrip. It had been off for more than 30 days. It would access some satellites but not download programming. This is unit programming and not TV channels. I called Dish and they said take to a local authorized Dish shop to get it initialized the first time. Shop would only come to me for a service fee. During the conversation, I mentioned that I have a DISH Tailgater. They said that would probably work but call them if it did not. It worked. Took many hours but it worked. So, if you know someone that has a "real" "DISH" antenna, try that. I can now use my Winegard MR.
I did hear that the Wally required all three satellites to be connected to complete activation, but I used it last year for about a month so that part should be behind me I would think.
  • The "Dish" Tailgater is built by King Dome and is not a Dish product. Dish bought about 30,000 and King Dome labeled them with the Dish logo and used some Dish only software (the same as the Winegard Pathway X2 and Playmaker) but there is no difference between that and any other King Dome Tailgater.

Someone recently posted that Dish now has an app you can download, sign into your account and do the "hit" reset using the app.
Great to know on the app. I'll give it a try.

  • That's actually a good idea - I should be able to hook up the 211 and run a check switch, even without it activated.
  • Is it possible to connect the older 211 to verify the 1000. I have three Walke’s, two on my Traveler and one more in my shop with no issues. Used to be all 211k’s before Wallis’s came out. Really like the new 54 remotes that can be linked to the Wallies also.
  • I have been using one Wally since they came out and an additional one for the last year. I also use the Travel'r and I have never had that problem with either Wally.
