Water Tank spout replacement

The lever broke off my fresh water holding tank spout. I can still turn it with vise grips,and it's not leaking, but am considering replacing the valve. Is it worth the effort? Should I use the same hole, or cut a new hole for a new valve and just ignore the old one? Is there a thread or video anyone knows of where I can see 'how to' ?

Martha on my 2005 PW Excel the valve in question is screwed into the tank and I've replaced it once. It's a cinch to do and the valve was cheap to buy.

Thanks all. It looks like #9 or #2 from the link by mobeewan. It is under the body of the PleasureWay and I can only get to it on my back. The horizontal 'flipper' on top is what broke off and the vise grip grabs to the vertical stem at the bottom so I can turn it. Not sure if it's the screw in type or the punch in type until I get it out of storage. Sounds like the Screw in type is preferred and something I can work with. The punch in type would expand the hole as I pull out, then it would leak unless I replace it with a slightly larger diameter screw in type. Thanks again everyone. Sounds like it might be worth the effort.

1. If it's like the one with "Cart/2" in that search above, I'd say replace it. It's remote, at the end of a tube leading from the tank. Just be sure to get the correct hose diameter or it'll leak.

2. BUT, if it's integral with the Tank Itself, I believe I'd leave it alone and continue to use a tool very carefully like you are now.

I believe most RV's are set up like 1. above with remote drain. Bur as I recall, our first RV, a Class C, was like 2. It had the tank under the bathroom vanity and the drain "spout" was part of the tank. So in addition to fitting the tank, that "spout" would also have to line up with a hole in the coach floor. Another reason to leave that kind alone.

Is there an actual threaded fitting drain valve screws into OR was valve just inserted into tank wall?
Some installations just used a high speed spinning action to melt/insert/seal

If threaded then you can unscrew old and screw new one in.

Yes, the Drain Valve! Sorry for my ignorance... So, should I bother replacing it, or is it more trouble than it's worth?
If I do replace - use the same hole, or cut a new hole and leave the old drain valve attached?

If you cut a hole I the tank, you will probably end up with a major leak when you try to install a new valve at hole. If it is a drain valve, it is threaded into the tank, and should require pipe joint compound.

The drain valve is only a few dollars and most are attached to the tank with couple of screws and a hose clamp.

If it's not the drain valve, post a picture of it.

Are you talking about the drain valve on your fresh water tank?
