I think thats a "1 watt" resistor 1200 Ohms aka 1.2K
brown =1
red =2
red number of zeros = 2
silver 10% +- tolerance .. 1200 +- 120 ohms
its Not directional..can go in circuit either way
and in this case .. yes you can use a heavier one 2 watt 5 watt
what ever is available
a smaller 1/8w ..1/4 watt will probably burn out and the step would quit working
it doesn't hurt to use a heavier wattage as long as the ohms resistance is correct
in this case its not critical, unless you put in one so high the step could not operate.. like something 10,000 ohms aka 10k
