Whats Different Between shurflo...".SeaFlo" and "4008"

I need a new pump,.....wondering the difference between Seaflo and 4008....both Shureflo pumps, near same specs and price
  • I be corrected, it is not a shure flo, rather a direct replacement for shure flo 4008.
But it has a 4 yr warranty, and hard to find one w/o a 5 star rating.
    I may give this a spin :)

I think Shurflo and Flojet have been on the market the longest. Many reviews, many members here own one or another. You may try your luck with less known brands. If you look at the features and specs, you'll find that prices of comparable models don't differ enough to go for something less known. This is a relatively cheap item, given its lifespan.

Slightly deviating from the topic, - lived without a pump for a week or so, due to local water situation, water in a covered 5-gal bucket with a cup sitting on top of it. The only problem was the shower. Camp shower worked, though. Shows (relatively) low importance of the pump.

Seaflo and Shurflo are different brands of pumps. They each have different models for various applications. Shurflo has been around for a long time and Seaflo is a newer entrant into the market. My current pump (Shurflo) failed this fall after 6 years so I have been researching pumps. Lots of choices out there! Fortunately I have until spring to decide.
  • I believe the Seaflo is for boats and may have some stainless parts etc.
    Std surflo is for RV's
  • Probably not much, if anything. Both pump water, that's all that matters.

However, one may be a bit noisier than the other, I don't know. Noise is caused by vibrations in the water lines touching things in the camper. The actual pumps run very quiet.

You might check if there is a difference in output. How many gallons per minute do they pump. They might make a difference. Regardless of what they advertise, it will only pump as much as your water lines will allow. And if you have a shower head water savor, it won't be spitting out "X" number of gallons a minute. It will be more like 1/5th of X number of gallons a minute.

You also might check to see if there is a difference in amp draw on the pump It's not so important if you are attached to shore power and your 12 volt system has unlimited renewable power. But if you boondock, the 12 volt draw could make or break a happy trip.

So, basically, I think, just pick the one that seems most logical to you, or stick with the brand that was factory installed on your camper. In the end, I don't think it really matters as long as it pumps water.
