Wheel Bearing Hub Temperature

Question

I recently replaced the bearings and races in a small boat trailer. After greasing-up, I took the rig for a short ride on the freeway. Having a new infra-red, digital thermometer, I decided to check the temperatures. With an ambient temperature of 90 degrees, the hubs (inside and outside) were all around 110 degrees, with a maximum temperature spread of 6 degrees.
So....... I got to thinking (I know, a bad thing). For those that routinely check their bearing temperatures, what is the average reading that you encounter?
Is there a general relationship to ambient temperature? (i.e., 10-20 degrees over ambient? More? Less?)

mine seem to run around 95-110 depending on how quick I check them after braking...Bryan

Thats a normal temp.

I recently had an occasion to measure the bearing hubs on my 11,000 lb 5th wheel.  This was done after about 100 miles and had allowed the trailer and truck to coast to a stop so the brake heat would not be a factor.  I measured 98, 99.5, 101 and 106 with an ambient of about 85. This was with an infrared meter.
