Data of any kind is only useful if accurate and in this case it's not. :( Here in Canada we have a dealer network called RV Care that currently consists of 62 major RV dealerships across the country which sell RV Care Traveler's Choice branded products, including batteries. Those batteries are in fact Deka batteries manufactured by East Penn ... but they're not on this list even though many thousands are sold every year. :R - landyacht318ExplorerThis manufacturer's list has been out for many years and claims to be updated regularly. I've given up on who makes which battery for whom, with what sticker applied, and to what quality/ pricepoint, as if it is a 12v marine or starting battery it largely does not matter. They all are junk, intentionally.
Now that I can properly charge in daily deep cycle service, I'll seek out higher quality, pay more for it, and watch amazed as it remains in place doing its job with no surprises
Battery Warranties should be applicable for defects in manufacturing, not user error/abuse. - j-dExplorer III like Walmart batteries because they seem pretty decent, and there's a Walmart near pretty much anywhere. And probably open 24 hours. So they're in RV (Chassis and House) and both cars.
Needed a GP 24 Marine Start for the Boat, and was ready to go Walmart, same price as Sam's Club. Then I noticed the Sam's/Duracell has higher amp ratings than the Walmart/Everstart. What clinched it was Sam's has an instant discount of $20 on many of their batteries.
$39 vs. $59 and more CCA! Went Sam's Club. Besides, the boat stays near home. - fj12ryderExplorer III

But that doesn't tell you much about who actually makes the batteries for a particular brand name.

House brands are built to a price point / custom spec anyway, so if the spec is for thin plates, does it really matter who built it? Some of those deals vary by region, too.
Standard "buyer beware" disclaimer. Sears used to be big on this.
The shorter the warranty, the less plates. Check the Cold Cranking Amps for starting batteries of the same size but different brands.
True deep cycle batteries typically don't specify a CCA number so check the "reserve capacity". Not all distributors specify this in the same way. Trojan is very thorough, specifying it in many ways. One common spec is the the 20 hour (sometimes mistaken called the 20 amp hour) discharge rate. This is the maximum current you can draw for 20 hours until you hit the "minimum voltage cut off".
The last quick and dirty method is weight. For batteries of the same size, a heavier one (more lead) will likely have more capacity. - dapperdanExplorer

You're exactly right, years ago my brother worked for a Good Year dealer, the rep from Monroe (shock absorbers) told him how Monroe "makes" shocks for Sears, but they (Sears) spec their shocks to much lesser quality than bonafide Monroes to keep the price point down. It works that way in quite a few areas, it's commonly known as private labeling. :B
I firmly believe you get what you pay for. Just my two cents.

- kerrlakeRooExplorerIt likely depends on who was low bidder on what week.
