Winegard G2+

I have Directv. H24 box. Dome Sat. on my motorhome and a dedicated satellite feed in the service bay. Dome and external sat feed go though an a/b/ switch. Tried two Winegard G2+ units, wired according to instructions. Neither would active the dish. Had all four green lights on the injector. Winegard support says it should work through the satellite a/b switch. Returned G2+ for a regular G2. Works fine through the a/b switch.

I got two different ones. I did connect straight from receiver to power inserter to dish. I worked. But had to keep connecting and disconnecting wiring in coach from a/b switch. The G2 just put it out ( I have a portable battery charger with 12v.) connected to charger. It found sat. and worked though a/b. I just got tired with the G@+ of undoing all the wiring in the electronics bay to get it to work. Really did not know if anyone else ran into the problem and what they did that worked with the G2+ with any type of a/b switch. By the way the second G2+ was dead even when wired directly. Just got a bad one I guess.

I have the carryout G2+ but do not use a splitter. I simply ran a coax cable straight to the AV compartment from the antenna so I would bypass any of the dependency on the built-in wiring.

I think so as well, when I contacted (and they answered after a while) Winegard support they said it should work with the type splitter I have. I am not sure. The regular G2 works fine with the switch. I am not sure if all a/b would not work, or if maybe a different or better one may work. I guess I am putting out there to see if anybody else has any experience with a G@+ and any type of a/b switch.

could be the switch. according to my sources the g2+ has the dish power embedded into the single cable whereas the g2 has separate lines. I heard somewhere else that putting anything on that line interferes with the power.
