Our motorhome is 50 amp. Today when we plugged at the campground the ac in front worked but nothing else. Switched to 30 amp everything worked. Unplugged motorhome started the generator everything came on then all started flickering and went out but the generator was still running. Any idea what could be going on? Thanks

Roger,

What you are seeing is absolutely a symptom of a bad connection at the pedestal. Do you carry a meter? If not, you should. Get a juice friendly acquaintance to walk you though what to do with it.

Problem not at pedistal. OP stated it happened on gen also. Problem is with shore power cord, Trasfer Switch, or Main Breaker. this would be a good time for a volt meter.

Oops, I did miss that when I wrote.
He does need a meter.

The reason everything worked with the 30amp adapter in there is that all of your equipment is good.

Tomorrow, go out there again and flip the 50 amp breaker on and off a couple of times and try it again. If the condition persists (only one side works) then tell the campground that the breaker has failed and should be replaced. If things work this time, tell the campground that the breaker is failing and should be replaced. (They won't until it doesn't work at all.)

Good Luck Roger

Sounds like the generator breaker tripped too. Maybe because of the problem in the transfer switch.

Good chance you have a bad connection. Maybe in the transfer switch.
Volt meter would tell more.
