Concur on A1 Auto. You just need to get a new regulator. (The motor is likely fine, but the wires are jammed.) Some local auto stores also carry them. Be careful you get the right one. Some are similar but have slightly different bolt holes.
It does take most of the day to swap it out, so pick a day it is not raining and start early so you have all day. One good tip was to jam the window in the up position with folded cardboard pieces while you install the new regulator.
Taking the door apart was a bit of a nightmare the first time (I have done it three times on my 2003 Chev truck we got new) but be patient and no need to break anything. If you have a bad memory (you do!) take pictures so you can put it all back the way it was :)
