That is the kind of rig that was needed to make the trip up and back on the Alcan in those days. GREAT vehicle!!
Nowadays, some foolhardy folks try it without a spare tire, without a radio, without a trip plan and regular progress reports to support backup, without even food for the trip!! "Gee, I thought there would be a WalMart in this Alaska town!!!" (this last comment from an RV'er when I shared some needed food items with him and his wife!)
