- JimNHExplorerwe have a 2009 TRD sport and just got a KZ sportsmen classic 16RBT. The 18 is about the same weight. it tows just fine!
- JimNHExplorerwe have a v6 tacoma and just purchased a 2013 K-Z Sportsmen Classic 16RBT - which is a hybrid small TT.
- dadmomhExplorerTotally unfamiliar with the Wolf Pup so did a bit online, I LIKE IT! Walk around queen bed is great. Larger bathroom is a plus. The kitchen workspace in that size trailer is almost unheard of. Great floorplan! Lots of amenities in a small package.
We have had 2 FR products, both in the Rockwood line, and found fit and finish to be good and no problems with either. Obviously, routine maintenance is a given. There seems to be a lot of folks looking for a smaller size trailer with just the features you found....maybe you've helped others in their search. Enjoy! - cuttercruiseExplorerThanks everyone! After some in-person shopping and online research (plus all of your suggestions/things to consider), we've decided on the 16FQ Wolf Pup by Forest River. Has all of the amenities we were hoping for but at lighter weight and great price. There was a lot to consider, but this one felt right. And we've heard/read great things about the brand (some of you agreed with that) So excited to get everything finalized and take it out for it's first journey!!
- dadmomhExplorerRe the trailmanor....Dick always suggests the trailmanor regardless of what the OP is after, yet doesn't own one. IMHO, a Trailmanor is a very glorified PUP as you have to raise and lower however often to get it loaded and unloaded and it would not be easily usable on the road...raise again, then lower. Airstream makes a very good trailer, has a sound reputation, but also a pricetag that goes along with it.
Casita is a well thought of trailer and has many pleased owners. Similar styles are out there and some online research would help you without driving all over. The R-Pod seems to be gaining in popularity and the one we actually were able to visit in the next site, was very nice. We have owned 2 Rockwood products and very pleased with both. Certainly not "top of the line", but what I would consider a strong mid-range trailer.
Depending on how much or little you want to set up, you might take a look at a Hybrid trailer. We had a ROO 23SS and loved it, but that word "retired" usually ties to a bit older and with DHs artificial pieces and parts, it became more of a chore than we wanted. For some it is absolutely no problem and we loved sleeping under canvas. Tow smaller, open up larger. Nice.
Rockwood makes a line called Mini Lites that are nice and smaller size. If nothing else, suggest you take a look online and see if something appeals to you.
The Tacoma is going to be your limiting factor. If you don't have the exact specs for your truck, your dealer can access that in seconds with your VIN# and answer any questions re capacities. Remember to take any info from the RV salesperson with a grain of salt until you can triple check it for yourself.
Due to lifestyle changes we just saw our TT leave for the last time a few days ago and it made for a weepy day....or two....around here. We loved our HTT and TT and the great memories. Good luck in your shopping and make lots of happy memories with your camping doggies! - xteacherExplorerDo you want a walk around bed, or is a crawl-over bed okay? My husband and I have the TT in our signature, which has a crawl-over bed. I'd love to have a walk around bed for those middle of the night bathroom trips, especially since I'm the one next to the wall...
With a Tacoma, you're limited as to TT size. I towed a 22 foot TT (3500 lb. dry weight) with a Tacoma, and it was doable, but not great. I would go shorter, and make sure to use a good WDH.
Look at the R-Pod 179. It's the only one with any storage in it. It has a wet bath, and as long as you don't mind that, it's a nifty TT. We almost got that one instead of our AR-ONE, but we got a steal of a deal on our TT, so we got it instead.
Also, take a look at the Palomini TTs. Several models to choose from and very light. Some have small slides. - TxTwoSomeExplorerWe bought a StarCraft 18QB it is just the two of us and two Chihuahua's. We removed the dinette and replaced with two small swivel rockers, This trailer has a rear door, queen bed and no slide.
We have been very pleased easy to pull and park just right for two people. - scbwrExplorer IIIf you can handle the weight, a four season trailer such as Arctic Fox is nice. But, if you want a lighter weight trailer, take a look at the Winnebago line.Winnebago Minnie
IMHO, the Winnebago towables are built a bit better than a lot of trailers. Winnebago also builds the Sunnybrook/Remington line of trailers. The Remington line offers trailers with aluminum siding. - FrankShoreExplorerIf you want well built look at Lance or Arctic Fox/Nash. Lance is expensive, but well worth it. They're also lightweight and made without wood in the walls which negates mold, rot and mildew.

Around here they sell the R-POD from Forest river, I personally like the look of them better. I crawled around in one at an RV show and was impressed.
I also considered one, but was not impressed. extremely little overhead & other storage, one small short overhead in the slide out on the one I looked at. absolutely NO hang up closet, etc. bathroom sink was a tiny triangle which would be hard to use. I paid more and got the Ascend.
