So, after several years of not RVing, we have decided that now is the time to return to RVing. We reside in SoCal.

Travel plans: primarily SoCal with some trips to AZ, Utah, NV and other destinations within 1-2 days of driving one way. Typically trips will be 2-5 days 3-5 times per year (when kids are off school). We may take one longer trip for two weeks in the summer. Would love to see more of our great country when time allows; perhaps a trip through the south and to Disney World in one of our two week summer trips.

We are a family of 5: Me (age 52) DW (age 47), DS(age 10-with Autism); DS (age 15); one furry friend (mini Schnauzer). Granny may accompany on occasions.

We have owned 2 TT (24', 32'); one 5er (30'); and one Class A ('89 Bounder with 460).

Based on how much we plan to use the trailer/5er we are undecided on new or used. We lean towards used so we don't get hot so bad when it comes to resell.

We have mowed over the cost/benefit/usage/comfort/maintenance analysis of TT, 5er, Class C, and Class A until we reached paralysis!

The consensus seems to be a 5er or TT for our intended uses. Sometimes the analysis doesn't come out in favor of economic efficiency (buying new)....but comfort, safety, and enjoyment are priceless when your kids are getting older (and parents are getting older too!) and the time you have with them is limited. Our 10yo will probably be with us until we can longer care for him and he will join us on ALL adventures well into the future!

Thanks in advance!
Below is a trailer that was just taken in at a local RV lot. It appears to be VERY clean! Price is firm after speaking with owner. he claims it will be sold by this weekend due to price and condition.

Wondering if this will fit our needs as discussed above

We have a 2004 2905 KZ Frontier. We did have some leaking issue with water getting around the rear Slide out. (I now set the trailer up slightly lower in the rear to prevent this).

Otherwise, we love it. The Quad bunk area gives the kids a room to play inside.
Easy to tow as a shorter camper, then you get the additional lenght of the slide out.

The outside stove is also a plus. Great storage too.

Good luck!

Look closely at the floor plan and think about how everyone would fit, and where they would fit. Maybe that floor plan works for you. It didn't for us.

We had a similar floor plan. Things we didn't like were:

1. Set up and take down. Moving things around in order to move the rear slide in and out.

2. Layout of the master bed -- Somebody has to sleep in the back. If that somebody comes to bed later, gets up during the night, or gets up earlier, they have to crawl over the person in the front.

3. The bathroom -- So small, it was difficult to change your mind, let alone changing clothes, and the rest of the trailer had no private areas.

4. If the sofa is used for a bed, both people in the master bed, need to climb over the one on the sofa.

5. The master bed, entertainment area, and the kitchen, are all the same area.

We have a 2011 KZ Spree 265KS which is a very similar set up only we have a King bed slide in the rear and twin bunks in the front. We also have a dinette on a slide out but the kitchen and couch are the same. We love ours and would recommend KZ. We did a lot of research on KZ prior to buying and have had no issues. They're probably not head and shoulders above other brands but have a good reputation. We have had no problems with any of the slides. The rear slide in the pictures appears to have a different mechanism than ours but KZ is known to put out a good product and based on what you have seen it's probably in good shape. Another plus of the rear slide is that it gives you a lot of room when set up but provides a shorter trailer when towing which can be a good thing when maneuvering in some campgrounds which can be much harder when pulling a long trailer.
