Sorry to hear this. You must go through vehicles often. Just last September you were talking about how great your 2018 Ram 2500 6.4L 3.73 was pulling 8,000 lbs, then you had a 2019 CTD with over 15k miles on it by August, and now a another brand new truck. I wonder why the Chrysler dealer is saying that the pump is on back order for four months. Looking at the Cummins PDC(Parts Distribution Center) inventories on my Cummins Cumpas program at work, they have had plenty of these pumps in stock for a while. Odd....

I can provide info on what Ram is doing, "just in case." The answer is NOTHING. My 2019 injector pump failed at 15k miles. Left me on the side of the road 2 hours from home. They towed it to the nearest shop. The truck that is. That's about the extent of it. I had to pay for them to tow my travel trailer. Once I paid Chrysler for them to arrange the trailer tow, no one showed up to get it. I had to end up making my own arrangements to get it home.
It took them about a week and a half before they finally figured out what happened. When they figured it out, they told me that the pump was on backorder due to the corona virus shutdown. I was going to have to wait 4 months until the parts were available. They approved a rental vehicle, but I was told that due to the coronavirus, they couldn't do that either. I escalated the claim internally at FCA. They pretty much de-escalated it back down to the case manager. This means that they weren't going to buy it back or replace it. The only choice I was left with (I needed a vehicle) was to trade the 4 month old truck in at the dealership where it sat. They didn't have a good selection of vehicles (also probably due to the coronavirus) but did have a 3500 on order that was similar in options to my 2500. I ended up buying that one. If there was an option to trade it to another manufacturer's dealership, I would have, and never purchase another Chrysler product. It's kind of hard to trade a vehicle that is disassembled and sitting in a shop.
So again, to recap on what to expect from Chrysler to make it right if it happens to you.....nothing.

Chrysler has nothing to do with your trailer being towed. Best is to schedule both tows yourself and get reimbursed.
So all you got out of that story is schedule your own towing?
Sorry to only comment on what I have an opinion about and what business is it of yours what I say???
Sensitive? I was doing the same. Do we have different rules?
He spent years demonizing the CP3 in the Super Duty, then switched gears and defended it when Cummins adopted it a couple of years ago. Now that he's seen a real world report that one grenaded a Cummins he's bound to be a bit sensitive.
You need to get your story straight. I have no opinion for or against the new pump. BTW the CP3 is the older pump.
And WTF does your comment have to do with MY comment on getting a tow truck for your RV.
What a bunch of doozies on here. - jaycocamprsExplorer

Have not heard of issues with the new Denso pump. But there are reports they are having issues with the Denso injectors.
So far I love my L5P, but tomorrow is a new day and anything can happen. - mlhExplorer

I totally understand that Chrysler roadside assistance doesn't cover towing my travel trailer. It would have been a nice touch for them to do so on a 4 month old vehicle, but not expected. They offered to set up the tow for a non refundable $220.00. I paid them over the phone by credit card. at that point, yes, Chrysler does have something to do with towing my trailer. The problem is, no one ever showed up to pick it up. They told me it was non refundable, but they did credit my account when I called to tell them no one showed up. I guess it was the least they could do. - IdaDExplorer

Ram, unlike Ford, is making things right!!!!
Please let me know what RAM is doing to make things right. I have a 2019 with the CP4.2 fuel pump. No issues and love the truck just would like to know what you know in case I ever have trouble with the CP4.2 pump so I know what to expect.
One reason I bought the RAM over the Ford was CP3 fuel pump but then found out a couple of days after I bought it that RAM was now using the CP4.2 pump too. Not that it would have made much difference anyway I guess.
Please provide any info that you have just in case.
Thanks,

That stinks and I'm sorry it happened to you. FCA was good to me when my water pump failed and I paid out of pocket to get it fixed at an independent shop because that was my only option, but that was a lot less money. Apparently the CP4 is still junk. I picked a Ram back in 2015 largely because it was the only one that still had the CP3. I think I'd go with a GM if I were buying a new truck now for the same reason. The CP4 is just a lousy design.
