2020 Ford - 6 speed for 6.2 ... rundown engine/tranny

My original information about standard/optional availability or either the 6 or 10 speed transmissions came from a magazine article that includes a transmission availability chart. The final authority of such is the Ford 2020 Super Duty Order guide (google it.) It appears from a quick reading of the 8/14/19 version, the 6.2 engine comes with the 6 speed G version regardless of trim when in an F-250. When the 6.2 is in an F-350 in comes with the 10 speed. The 6.7 and 7.3 always come with a 10 speed. It looks like the 6 speed non-G version of TorqueShift is gone.

Kind of a shame that the diesels of those years with DPFs that didn’t use DEFs was so horrible while they used the owners for research and development.

They are both regular cab 4wd, same as my truck.

The ride, the height of the step to get into the cab, small cab, interior ergonomics and poor gas mileage.

The power is good and I love the control you have over the transmission. Every auto trans should be like they are.

I know that diesels have more power than gas engines do. I've driven diesels that were very impressive. That particular 6.4 was a dog. I am not anti diesel.

A big gas motor would be great, especially if it got some respectable gas mileage.

A new F-250 with that 7.3 is way out of my reach.

I tow a snowcat with a Chevy 8.1L and average about 5 mpg.
I wrecked the truck and they gave me a F-450 with I believe was a 6.4L Powerstroke, what a pile of junk. The same 5 mpg with a very little increase in power.

I don't know what I get this year for a truck because they retired the other two. I know the Chevy is gone and I'm praying the F-450 is too.

Most likely is the 2wd reg cab. Here is a 2019 4wd reg cab, 6.2 gas rated at 7230 max payload listed at a car dealership in Kansas. You will have to scroll down and look under features then scroll down in that box and you will see the max payload 7230.

I like how in that jalopnik article, they were struggling to see how you could need that much payload. They could have looked at any of Hosts offerings and had their answer. Even my lowly AF1140 with a 5k trailer in tow would eat up a sizeable chunk of that payload. The rest of it would be eaten up by 4 doors and leather heated and cooled seats.
