2500HD vibration.

Are we talking about a 70 hertz bounce or a 2-3k hertz buzzing vibration?

Mine has that bounce around 50MPH, been like that since 0 miles. I now have 48,000 on it, its not like it will jar your teeth, but you can feel a hop.

Just dump the two piece when needed, that carrier bearing is your weak link.

No one makes one for the 2WD LWB trucks, from your link "EXCEPT 2WD trucks with the 2-piece shaft.". Trust me I spent 3 weeks trying to get one. If I had a 2WD SWB or a 4WD with a transfer case I could use one. But a 2WD LWB the drive shaft is to long for a one piece to work.

Cool thanks Andy, never know that the GM's bolted from the bottom. When they removed the bed from my truck the bolts went through the top, assumed they all did.

Hannibal I also have a 4X2 LWBQC other then eating carrier bearings and u-joints every 60-70K no vibration in mine. They now have an up dated CB that is round and is suppose to last a lot longer. Don on a GMT-800 ex/crew cab there are three bolts on each side of the cab and one on each side of the radiator support. 8 in total.

There are 4 on each side of the pick up box, 8 in total. All bolts come up from the bottom through the mounts into blind nuts welded to the body. Don't even need to open the doors to get the body mount bolts loose.

Lifting the cab enough, one side at a time, just enough to remove the rear body mounts would not bend the bolts on the opposite side as there is enough flex in the rubber mounts. There is enough flex in the brake lines, hoses, wiring, steering shaft, etc. to allow you to do this.

The pickup box bolts directly to the frame. There is no need to remove the pickup box bolts to replace the rear cab mounts.

Mine were quad cab long bed 4x2. I never said the frame caused the vibration. However, the ultra rigid thin steel hydroformed chassis did tend to ride a little more jittery than the tail gate bending flexible heavy steel C channel chassis of the F250 or previous C channel Rams I owned before the '03. The dealerships were aware of the TSBs relating to the 4X4. They tried shims at the carrier and rear axle springs. They acknowledged the vibration at first and then denied it and finally said it's normal, don't bring it back. The driveline shop did all they could with the driveshaft. Odd thing is, it was intermittent. Sometimes bad enough to vibrate change in the ash tray and other times not even noticeable. I still think it was a harmonic engine/transmission vibration and not a balance or alignment problem. Ever notice the collection of vibration dampers under the Rams? The number has grown over the years. The old C channel Rams had one.

I have an 09 GMC Sierra 2500HD, regular cab, long bed with the same problem. Mine is more obvious at 65-75ph. My local GM service manager suggested it's possibly a defective rear gear. Not real sure but I can still feel it somewhat with the 5ver hitched on its back at 65mph.

Hannibal the Ram does not and never has had a vibration caused by the frame. It did have a vibration on some trucks 2003-2005 (mostly 4WD SWB) with the rear axle needing to be shimmed to increase the pinon angle. If your dealer told you this was normal then you had a POS dealer. There was a TSB issued for this wwwaaaayyyyyyy back in 2004/2005? that the dealer WOULD have been aware of along with the drive line shop. Looks like you should find some competent auto mechanics.

Andy was just asking a question. There are six body mounts on a Club/crew cab right? One set at the radiator support area, one set at the front of the cab and one set at the rear of the cab, right. Then you have the four box mounts also correct?

There is a lot more to lifting the cab then just losing a few bolts. The carpet front and rear will need to be removed to gain access to the body bolts. Note:the mid cab bolts might be accessible from out side the cab but the rear bolts are inside. I bet GM would NOT recommend doing one side as this could bend the bolts and bolt holes on the other side. The rubber mounts fit into a pocket and you need about one and half inches of clearance to get them out and back in. This is why I said $100 would not get the job done. Ford pays their mechanics 8 hours to R&R a cab but I'm sure they have short cuts.

I've had two Rams with the hydro formed chassis and both developed a rhythmic vibration like a driveshaft had thrown a weight. Both went back to the dealership several times and they finally said don't bring it back, it's normal. I took the '05 to a drive line shop for u-joints, carrier bearing and high speed balance. Still vibrated. My Ford must be broke as it doesn't have this normal vibration. It seems to be hit or miss on the GM and Dodge with their tuning fork chassis and AAM rear axles. With the Ram it's known as the dreaded drive line vibe on the Dodge forums. I would pass on it but others will surely disagree. And that's ok. Really it is.:B
