275 70R18 Tire Question

Just upgraded to a Ram 3500. For those people with 275 70R18 tires, what is your front and rear pressure without towing and with towing?

I'm running at 65 most of the time. I find that wet traction is awful if I run them higher than that when unloaded. GMC 2500hd crew sb Duramax z71 suspension.

I stay around 70 front and 75 rear, all the time in my 2500. My Nitto Dura Grapplers are a little softer than the stock Firestone's were. Seemed to wear pretty evenly like that.

OK, a long time ago, back in 2013, the RAM 2500's used to have a "Light Load" option. What this allowed an owner to do was run the pressure at 60F, 45R when there was no load, and the TPM would not go off. Then under regular use, you needed 60F and 70R. I have a 3500, I find that my tires wear well with regular 7500 mile rotations at 60F and 55R. The fronts wear more on the shoulder, the rears wear more on the center. With rotation, you get an even wear. Whenever I haul a load of pavers or sand, etc... then it's 80psi rear, front stays at 60psi.

I've got the OEM Firestone H/Ts and I'll be lucky to get 27K out of them. I'm a little over 26K now and they're close to being worn out. Need to try something that will last next time.


Goodyear wrangler all-terrain adventure. I liked them so much I had a new set installed last month


Sounds good but I'm just looking for a highway tread. Never off road, don't need ano A/TV tire

Offroad jeeper's have de-flators that are adjustable. However they are not settable to higher pressure ranges. Chris

I have a clip on air chuck. Without it on an air hose it makes a great way to deflate tires. I can tell by the sound of the air escaping when it is getting to around 44 pounds(Rears empty). Chris

60 all around once the camper is parked for the year. Then I bump the rears back up to 80ish when it's time to get it out again in the spring. 80 is too high unloaded but I don't enjoy deflating and reinflating my tires over and over.

There's an easy way to sort this ought: Do the Math.

Calculate what pressure is required to carry the GAWR for the size listed on your truck.

If you do that, then you will find that vehicle tire placard will have enough load carrying capacity for the rated GAWR - even if the max pressure of the tire is more.
