40#/10 gal propane tank covers

I am planning to put two 40# propane tanks on my TT this fall and I am only finding vinyl covers.

Does anyone know if there is a hard plastic one made for the bigger tanks?

I currently have a cover similar to the Camco 40542 and would like one like that.

We occasionally use the trailer for 3-4 weeks at a time and 65-70 miles back up a nasty dirt road (last 7 miles takes 45-70 minutes) which makes propane hard to come by. The 40# tanks allow us to take fewer tanks but we will still take 2 40's and 3 30's.

The weather can be snowing, raining, 60's, teen's, etc...

    Thanks for the explanation.

  • With all respect and some curiosity: Why would you need 40 Lb. tanks?

We full time with three adults and only use one 30 Lb. tank in six months.

    Lots of furnace use?
  • It might be possible to take 2 - 20 lb tank covers and cut the top off one and pop rivet both together. They sell back up washers for use with the pop rivets. You will probably need them to keep the pop rivets from pulling through the plastic.

If overlapping the 2 covers before pop riveting them together doesn't work. You might cut a strip of aluminum sheet metal to cover the seam between the 2 covers and then pop rivet each to the sheet metal.

    found this soft vinyl one

I believe 30 and 40 pound tanks are the same diameter. You could just use 30 pound covers. They wouldn't go all the way to the bottom of the cylinders but would still cover the regulator and hoses.

    20/30/40 are 12.5" diameter
    20..18" tall
    30..24" tall
    40..29" tall

This is one for double 40# cylinders........

    Only $652 (Airstream!!!)

  • Years ago I used vinyl covers on 20lb. bottles. Since they fit tightly, there was a condensation problem causing some corrosion. If you could provide some venting near the top, it might be OK.
  • That sucks! I guess the vinyl will still protect the regulator and lines from UV damage.

I've never been able to find one.
