Well, I'll be driving the truck home by Wednesday, probably. After two week and $3700.00 later, we still don't know anymore about the problem now, as we did the day I brought the truck in.Fords latest suggestion to the ford garage was to replace the right side head gasket now, replace the horizontal egr cooler and the vertical egr cooler. This is not an absolute diagnosis to the problem, just what is being suggested by the Ford guru's. Total cost to me would be $4000 plus. The bill would be $8000.00 plus.I told Ford garage to button it up. I'm not putting more money. Going to drive it home and sell it.Stayed tuned, I'll be following up with a more detailed response from Ford to the garage.The mechanic did pressure test the egr coolers and they tested fine. No indication of right side head gasket problems, but the higher up guru's at ford thought that might be a problem.Oh well.

Can't say I blame you. I'd trade it in asap before it gives up the ghost.

Jeez, that's terrible. Just another example of modern day "mechanics" who can't diagnose a problem and just throw parts and money at it until they finally fix it or the owner gives up... At least you can finish your trip and get home now. Good luck and drive safe.

What amazes me is this came directly from the Ford guru that's supposed to be the expert. They're guessing what the problem is at the consumers expense. What really bugs me is I'm about to take a hit on a nice truck and there might not be anything worst than a head gasket.

Good luck getting it home. I'm pulling for your OP.Once upon a time Ricatic found a dealer who didn't seem to helpful as to his problem with a 2011 6.7 BIG problem. The dealer ended up black balling Ricatic which voided his warranty period. He was out like 10-12k dollars for the repair.Just a side note, he (Ricatic) bled blue on several boards. His wife even worked for the blue oval in Michigan no less :E So much for loyalty... more so after it's on your dime. Again good luck getting it home. I see part swappers across many varied industries. The skill of troubleshooting and understanding the relationship of parts interaction has been lost with much of the current generation. I need an intern that willing to learn "old school".

Yea, I'd give Ford the middle finger. They are guessing at repairs which is no big deal because they aren't paying for it. The dealer should diagnose first, then repair, not the other way around. I hate to hear when diesels have troubles, because they can cost so much to fix. My uncle had a very similar issue with his truck, and I could have bought two long blocks and had them installed in my truck for what he paid to repair his diesel Ram. Hope it all works out well for you in the end.

Very very sorry to hear of your problems. I had looked at a 2008 F350 6.4 when I bought my 2008 Cummins. Except for the 64 000 mile service on the emissions, which was expensive enough, I have been lucky. It does concern me, though, having a diesel truck off warranty.

Just an idea off the top of my head: would the dealer who worked on it take it as a trade? They may be able to help you get into something else.

400 miles. Have truck now. It didn't puke any coolant driving easy at 55-60 mph. Think I'll be ok if I take it easy. I have 4 gal of coolant and 6 gal distilled water.
