You are at the upper end of what is comfortable to tow with a half ton Ram... but I think its reasonable if you can keep your payload at or below specs.

To the original question, I'd tow that trailer across Texas without thinking twice. Air up the tires, crank up the wdh and put er in gear!

Do you have a tow package? What rear end ratio? Read your owner's manual. Between it and the door sticker, you should have all the information needed to determine what you can reasonably tow. With a half ton, payload is the limiting factor in most cases. A 7200 lb. trailer will have a tongue weight of about 950 lb. You may have to limit extra cargo in the truck.

You'll be fine. Performance will vary somewhat with the rear axle ratio your truck has (3.21, 3.55 and 3.92 were all choices then IIRC). 3.92 would be best, 3.21, worst.

Keep the trailer GVWR within the tow rating for best results.

I pull nearly 7200lbs with a 1/2 SUV. A well set up WDH and air'ed up tires are huge. Power is a non issue, just be prepared to let the motor rev.

Its the length I'd be more concerned about for a TT of that weight.

Any cross winds, semi's blowing by, you'll know it and it wont feel great.

#1 - Make sure the WDH bars are rated for 1000-1400lb and get the front wheel ride height back to the unloaded height.

#2 - You'll want to air up your truck tires to max cold (44psi) if they are P rated. LT's would be better and run around 60-65psi.

Did that amount of weight with my sons GM 1500, he has a 4.8 V8 motor, around 300 ponies......never went below 50mph on the steepest grades, ~4 percent in 2nd gear of 4.......

In a nut shell, no problem! You will not be the fastest on the road.....I usually figure no trailer bigger than 2xGRAWR. 2x 3900 is 7800. Sounds like you will be under that, granted not by much.....its doable.

7200 lbs will be close to the limit on your 2013 Ram Truck 1500 (Not a Dodge), as long as you have a Hemi. A brake controller (Not Break) is required in most states, and only a fool wouldn't use one, especially that size trailer.
