Adding roof ladder to Palomino Canyon Cat

I have a 2015 Palomino Canyon Cat and love it. I have done some mods to her like 360 roof vents, new antenna, integrated stairs, etc. I recently saw the 2020 and 2021 models out that have a rear mounted roof access ladder. Does anyone know if there is built in support on these new models that the ladder mounts in to? I am looking at possibly adding a set to mine but unsure if it is possible. Thanks.
  • Did your model year have an option for a ladder? If not, I'd say no. If it did and you hook into the same frame members as they do on a factory ladder, I'd say maybe ok and may not be. Do the new units have a ladder weight limit? Are you under that limit?
  • A more economical and useful alternative get a self stacking extendable ladder and store it in your truck. Collapsed, their only 2' by 4' and easily stored.
  • I would not try adding a roof ladder as the mounting points MUST go into framing. The factory ladders are pre planned during construction.

Had 1 fifth wheel with no ladder, present one has ladder. I would rather carry an expandable ladder than have a built in one.
  • I dont like the expandable ones, they make a folding ladder. If your a FF , think folding closet ladder. In a A frame form. Not bad and sturdy. Just not confterble for long periods. Easy enough to store or add a tube to store it in. I put mine in a fence post over the bumper. Good thing about the a frame is you can use it for a lot of other things and dont need to lean it on something.
