Primary tow vehicle is a Dodge 3500 with built in moose antlers mirrors. However, it is down hard at the moment so we will be taking the backup TV, 2001 Expedition. Hate to spend a penny more than necessary. Amazon has a some that slip on like plastic booties, suposedly custom fit for the Expedition/F150 -- $35 Or we have the universal kind that strap on to the existing mirrow for about $40 THen there's the big metal that clip on to the top and bottom of the doors-- about $70/set I'd be grateful for input.

You get what you pay for. My guess you buy the cheap mirrors and you will not come home with them.

I used the slip over plastic mirrors for years. I found the mirror vibrated too much to be usable until I adjusted them and then secured the mirror with silicone adhesive. They then worked perfectly.

Our first set of tow mirrors were the "strap on" type and they were not bad as far as easy on/off, and easy to adjust. But there is a good bit of vibration.We have had the CIPA "Slide over" custom fit for our last two trucks and while there is less vibration, one mirror seems to creep to straight out position while in use. We have to readjust it during travel even though moving it is very tight.

The CIPA slip-ons are nice and don't cost that much.

Got these for my 2012 Ram, no shimmy, no shake. Looks like oem when clipped on. Cost was $44 with prime.

We use Grand Aero clip on mirrors, recommended by our dealer for our Toyota 4 Runner. Over 10,000 miles, they don't slip (unless we forget to tighten them correctly) and they don't vibrate - at least that we notice. Available on Amazon, but on sale at PPLMotorhomes for $95 through August 28.

Search Craigslist in your area, and you will find some for half the cost of new. The universal strap on are the best type, as you can use them on any number of vehicles. Should be able to find a decent set in the 30-40 range used.

I've tried slip on mirrors on my Tundra and they weren't very good. The Grand Aero mirrors have proven to be the best for my rig, but they are not a cheap solution. However, I'd rather spend a few more $$ and have mirrors that work rather than use cheaper mirrors that reduce visibility when towing i.e. safety first!

Thanks everyone. I ordered the custom slip-on type from Amazon for $33

It's too unpleasant towing 32 feet with this truck to do it very often but the family wants the Labor Day camping trip so we'll make do.

Hopefully the Dodge will be back up for the next trip.

I bought the these strap on mirrors at camping world. They don't vibrate and were not that expensive.

I use a slip on one for the tundra. the stock replacements are 800$ and aftermarket 400$. After 2k miles of towing I am okay I guess.

The further you are going to tow should dictate how much you a going to invest.

200 miles? go cheap.. 2000 miles? get the good ones.

I use the CIPA Slip-ons here for my 2010 F150 and they are great. They lock down very tight with a hugh adjustable hand nut on the back... Do not vibrate at all...

These add-on mirrors have many different models and should have one to perfectly fit around your truck OEM side mirrors. Just recently saw a big display of these at PEP BOYS and of course AMAZON carries the line.

Great to just carry in the truck tool box just in case you ever need a set.
