All threaded shore power cords the same?

I'm talking about the locking ring type that connect to the TT. Mine is a marinco with the locking collar. I've seen other brands such as Conntek and Fusior? Are they all interchangeable or should I stay within the same name brand?

I'm thinking about getting a 50a to 15a pigtail for home use so I don't have to pull my big cord out every time I get home. They are available but not sure if they will work with mine.

Cliff notes: threaded collars generic?
  • I bought a replacement from Home Depot and found the face of the plug to be further from the locking ring than the Marinco. I can use the locking ring only by pushing very hard on the connection to get it started. If I had to do it over, I would have stayed with the same brand.
  • I don't believe they're interchangeable. Going with Marinco isn't really that bad of a deal unless you're really concerned about price.

BTW, your 50 amp Marinco inlet should be locking without the threaded ring. That is how I have mine connected-no locking ring.
  • I have a 30 Amp and an adapter for 2 20 amp cords so the AC can run without blowing a 20 amp. I think they are standard for 50 amp.
