Clearly the long bed trucks have a pure advantage due to leverage, but how significant is the difference between a short bed and long bed F350 at 156.2" and 174.4", respectively? I'm towing a 36' TT with a ProPride 3P hitch. This rig will also be my daily driver, so I'd prefer a short bed for maneuverability.
Maneuverability has to do with wheelbase.
Some short bed trucks have longer wheelbases than some long beds trucks.
Ok...I've pulled heavy GN trailers commercially for close to a million miles with short and long beds with 3/4 and mostly one ton DRW trucks...and I've owned four RV trailers pulled with these trucks.
How does a long bed have more 'leverage' than a short bed ??
And what do *you* mean by "leverage" ??
I currently have a truck with a 8' bed.... 6' 4" bed and a 5' 10" bed and they all pull GN/5th wheel and bumper pull trailers.
The 8' bed is on a '98 3500 DRW crew cab chevy 4x4 and it has to sit in a tractor shed/never goes down town. Even a WM parking lot is a pain with this truck.
The other two are short enough to park in the garage and park anywhere with ease.
