Anyone replace their awning on their own

I ran out of duct tape and its time to replace my awning . Has anyone done this themselves , and where is the best place to buy a replacement ?
  • Glamping World was having a $39 install special when I needed to replace ours. I don't recall the cost of the fabric, but know it was very competitive or I would have done it myself. The replacement was Dometic, exactly like the original, made in US, not some cheap Chinese product. Well worth the install price.
  • I had excellent service from Tough Tops. Shipped the second day from ordering. Contact Tyler at 360-980-0537 or tyler@toughtopawnings.com.
  • Me and my wife replace our 17 foot on our motor home From start to finish 2 1/2 hours. We watch you tube several times before we started. Good Luck.
  • Me and my BIL replaced his by our selves.. We watched a video on YouTube and said " hey we can do that!" So we did... It is a 2 person job for sure... Don't let the springs scare you away , just be mindful as to what your doing and it will be fine.. Respect them..
  • I recently replaced mine. Did need a helper to "walk off" the awning from the trailer. Got my fabric from Ebay. Very happy with it. Check out these videos on how to replace.

  • I did mine on my last TT. Pretty simple process and I found the cheapest place to get the fabric was on Ebay.
  • I found the make and model of my slide awning on the very first wrap right next to the metal. I have removed it completely from over the slide, worked on the slide seals, and replaced it.

I did it myself, but anything longer than a six foot length would definitely need a helper.

Before you begin, take lots of pictures of each end and study the U-Tube videos about it. Springs under tension are dangerous, and you really need to make sure you have the tension locked at each end.
