- Airstreamer67ExplorerI like to know my truck's fuel mileage, so use a Tuthill 13 gpm pump with an electronic fuel gauge. I fill the truck from a 91 gallon RDS auxiliary tank like I would at a filling station. I also use the system for a diesel tractor, RTV and generator. I have two fuel filers plumbed into the system to assure clean and waterless fuel.
- olddesertriderExplorerI use a simple kitchen cooking timer to time the aux tank pump on and off cycle. Do the initial main tank fill in your driveway at home to
get a baseline for timing your particular tank setup. Works like a charm and so very cheap!!!
olddesertrider - trucker495ExplorerThank you all for your reply.
Happy trails
Kyle - rodknockerExplorerI put one of these on my 60 gal RDS tank. Flows about 1 gpm, no complaints. Just used it on a 4863 mile road trip over Christmas. I turn it on for 15 minutes when main tank is at 1/4 mark. It will over flow if you don't turn it off.

Miiles away do you happen to have a part/moden number for the pump? Oreilleys here in Tucson can't seem to help me

I went on the O'Rielly web page and found one just like mine except it is only 6 volt, but I'm sure they have one just like it in 12 volt. It is an Airtex # E8011. They also have a Mr. Gasket #12S. Both are low pressure (5 to 8 lbs). They run about $50. (sorry about the under estimate on price). The filter I use is a WIX #32123 and it screws onto a base that you must mount next to the pump. That part number is WIX 24309. The reason I use a pump is that gravity feed will not flow through the filter. If you choose not to filter your AUX tank, then you will not need a pump. Yes, I am very happy. It is simple and works perfectly every time ! Has an on/off petcock on the side of the tank which I normally keep closed while driving. In general, I turn it to 'on' at night after I get set up at camp.
It IS a very slow process to refill the OEM tank. I assume because it's a very small diameter line that connects the aux tank to the OEM filler hose. There is also a one-way valve at that junction which closes when the tank is full so fuel will not continue to flow and go out the fuel cap (or vent system).
That's why I just transfer the fuel overnight, although if I absolutely needed to I would not hesitate to flip open the petcock if I was running short of fuel in the OEM tank before I was done driving for the day - and I have done just that a few times.
I like simple and really have found no need for an electric pump.

Kyle - Miles_AwayExplorerI have a gravity feed set up with a gate valve on the petcock coming out of the Axl' tank. Since I wanted to filter fuel between Axl' tank and main tank, I installed a WIX filter/water separator ($25), then installed a low pressure fuel pump from O'Rielly's Auto Parts for about $15. When I'm ready to transfer fuel, I open the valve and switch on the pump. My transfer rates is about one GPM.
- trucker495ExplorerThanks for the info. Are you happy with the gravity feed system?
Kyle - GoPackGoExplorerI found this one at Northern Tool.

I bought my tank from RDS, but use the gravity method to transfer fuel. I looked on their website but did not see any pumps, but you might call them to see if they can give you some leads.
