Awning Recall...Dometic, Lippert, Fprest River , or Keystone

Will try and make this as short and simple as possible.
Bought a 2013 Salem Hemisphere last week. Learned that there was a recall on the awning for that model. Called FR. They said call Dometic. Told to get info off of awning. Turns out it is a Lippert awning. Called Dometic back and they said that that they have been working with Keystone and that I should call FR back and let them know that it is a Lippert awning. Have not heard back from FR.
FR told me that it is a Dometic awning (serial #005845), however label says it is a Lippert/Solera awning...but does have the #005845 on the label.

So, is this awning included in this recall? According to recall information online, the manufacture date of the awning recall is between Feb.- April, 2013.

This is really confusing. Anyone with any experience or solutions for this? Thanks

Due to a design change in the power awning motor assembly, the motor assembly screws may unknowingly shear.

Owners may contact forest river at 1-574-389-4600 or dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

Notes: Owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www. Safercar. Gov.
  • here is a link with information about the recall. What concerns me is the fact that my TT (2013 Salem Hemisphere was included, but apparently does not have a Dometic awning. Even more concerning is the fact that FR told me that it IS included because of serial #005845 which is on the label of the LIPPERT awning tube own my TT.

  • Boy these answers are confusing! Anyone have a link to the recall?
  • Talked to Lippert and was told that they have no recalls on their awnings.
  • Problem is with the motor. Recall states that the mounting screws/bolts could sheer and cause awning to open, which would be a disaster if during travel. Certainly a problem, regardless.
  • Keep a record of all phone calls and who you spoke to. It will come in handy if this goes to litigation.
  • Salem Hemisphere is a Forest River product (FR). Why is Keystone involved?
I'd call Lippert and confirm your # on the label.
  • It is lippert arms but a dometic motor it is only the motor that is on the recall so go off the motor numbers or do like a lot around here when it quits get one off eBay for 100.00
