Bath and A Half??

What manufacturers make bath and a half models. Wife wants one!
  • Those are some mighty long units! Looks like if you're thinking of that extra half bath, you're looking at 35 - 44'. Pretty sure we'll be sticking with our 1 bath, 26'.

I'm sort of placing 1/2 baths in the same category as outside kitchens. Nice features but at the end of the day I could make better use of the space as simple storage vs. having two of the same rooms/functions.
Is an RV really big enough to require 2 toilets,2 sinks,2 microwaves, etc. or could the same space be used to improve the layout in other ways?

  • I have a 1/2 bath in my Open Range bunkhouse. While I totally like my unit. The 1/2 bath maybe more trouble than it's worth

When we take friends or have visitors the 1/2 bath is a nice option. However when its just the 4 of us. The 1/2 bath becomes an added dumping chore.
The 1/2 bath has a separate gray and black tank. That has to be monitored/maintained/emptied.

Instead of having one fairly full black tank. I have 2 fairly empty black tanks. A full tank empties easier than a empty tank and requires less flushing and rinsing.
Not a big deal but the additional 1/2 bath adds another camping chore that interferes with my relaxation time.

If my family were larger maybe I'd appreciate the 1/2 bath more, but currently I see the 1/2 bath as added work and a feature I could do without.
Don't get me wrong having 2 baths can have its advantages, however just be sure to consider you will double your effort when emptying the tanks.

In short the convenience of the additional 1/2 bath has not been worth the inconvenience and additional work when it comes time to dump.
  • We have the 2013 Holiday Rambler Endeavor ( 44' )with the half bath and main bathroom in the rear.

Great floor plan - worth checking out.
  • I have it in my Palomino Sabre. I believe that their Puma line also still has it.
I originally wanted it just for the additional holding tank capacity, but have found it so convenient tat we will likely always have this setup in our RVs. And it is just the two of us!!
  • I have a bath and a half. They just put a 2nd black tank in under the 2nd toilet which also collects that sinks drainage. I have 2 blacks and 2 grays. The 1st black and 2 grays go out one connection and the 2nd black goes out a 2nd connection near the rear door. It's pretty neat when all the grandbabies and kids need to use the restroom they can get to it without running through the trailer. Both blacks have flush connections.

We like having the 2nd toilet.
  • Look at Forest River's Sandpiper line. They have several that have a bath and a half. I like them a lot but they are so long!!!
  • I thought that many/most of these isolated second half baths had a vacuum operated toilet which is somewhat problematic??

  • I've seen a few, but can't remember the manufacturers. The half bath is usually in the separated bunkhouse at the back of the TT. IIRC these are very long TT (35' or greater).
