got the brake controller. there is NO plug in the area that is shown in the owner's manual. in area of switch for 110 volts. my mechanic and two Toyota service personnel also searched under the kick panel and to the left of the steering column. controller dealer had assorted photos supposedly showing location but that was for a key start dash, not button. seemed to be right of steering column but photos didn't look like back of radio, et.Has anybody here found the location on a toyota tacoma limited push button start ?I should add that this is a 2016thanksbumpy

took another look at my dash. the piece shown in that post is shorter than mine, and mine has an air duct on the left end which is not shown in that picture. but since it about has to be there, will have the mechanic blast his way past the radio. :)emailed toyota with limited hope. :)bumpy

well I heard back from Toyota. they claim that the plug is under the left kick panel and that the drawing on page 178 shows that. that drawing is totally unclear. two Toyota mechanics and my mechanic tore into that area and did NOT find the socket. the photos of Etrailer certainly were of the dash, not the kick panel.re-sent a post to Toyota asking clarification but that is unlikely to prove satisfactory.bumpy

Huh, weird. I responded to your other thread, but basically if the truck has a normal brake light switch on the pedal, installing a controller without the plug n play is still pretty easy. Will cost you a couple hours shop time though if you can't do it yourself.

it has the tow package, and the 110 volt switch on the dash turns on the 110/120 volt outlet in the bed. just gotta locate the plug where ever it is.

Ok, weirder things have happened during production. I was just in a optioned out Pacifica with the big vista glass roof/sunroof. One problem. They forgot to put in the switches in the overhead console to open it. Or to close the shade for that matter. So you get to bake in the sun beating through the roof.

This thread says the connector is in the left kick panel, but hidden a bit behind some harness wires.

You mention 110 volts so I am not sure if I understand correctly. But it sounds like you purchased the plug and play pigtail for the controller you purchased. What bikendan is saying is if you do not have the universal pigtail that should have come with the truck you may not have that harness/plug under the dash for some reason.

It's a possibility that if you do not have the tow package or whatever they call the option they may have not run what you need in the wire harness.

there wasn't one with mine but I bought the connector when I ordered my controller. just can't find where to hook it up.

a couple of hours of shop time will add up to about the same as if I buy the remote one referenced for $283 and sell my brand new proportional one that needs plugged in at the dash.
