Is the glass repair shop close by? Can you ride over there and trace it out on something? Call them and get measurements? Plywood would have to be cut out exactly and would need some weather stripping on around the edges.
If not I like WyoTravelers idea, basically make your own awning. Less work, cheaper and will probably work better.
