- RoyBExplorer IIBunch of nice campgrounds on HIGHWAY 98 especially near DESTIN FLA.
Most of them border the water...
Do a GOOGLE MAPS search for that area and type CAMPGROUNDs in the search form- Click on the one that catches your eye...
Roy Ken - coolmom42Explorer IIWhatever the temp is, it will be warmer than SD. :D
For weather info---go on weather.com. Put in the city near where you want. Go to the monthly forecast, then go to "averages". You can see average highs/lows plus record highs/lows.
Typically you will see highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s on the Gulf Coast that time of year. But do be aware of the records---they DO happen! Once in a while that part of the coast gets an Arctic blast coming down. Good news is that it normally lasts only a day or so.
You WILL need heat, definitely. - Tom_BarbExplorerThe coldest I have ever been was a line watch at NAS Pensicola, in whites, with freezing rain. some thing this old sailor will not forget.
- azrvingExplorerx2 on Buccaneer. It was rebuilt after the hurricane. Nice roads, sites and facilities. The laundry and store building have elevators and are very nice. The kids pool is nice and there is a water park set up nearer the gulf. We camped near the gulf in the open area which cost more. There is water and electric out there but you have to use the dump station. You have to walk across the highway to get to the beach. Traffic noise wasn't a problem but the noseeums were. Maybe they just love northern meat.
- WayneAt63044ExplorerI've been to the beach in Destin in February and it was cold and windy; didn't even want to walk from parking to the water. Sunny & 65 is nice but not water sports weather in my book. If you want warm & to enjoy a beach, go to the southern half of the Florida peninsula. Or abandon the beach and head to the desert SW for warmth and less rain. Just one man's opinion.
