In my limited experience with adapters, I seem to remember the hard plastic all-in-one adapters tend to get hot. I've never had that happen with the dog bone style. Again, my experience with them is limited...just an observation.

I suggest the one with the 1 foot pigtail (dog bone adapter).
Any reasoning behind that, or just personal preference?
The main advantage I can see would be a better chance of getting the cover on the power pole closed to keep rain out, but then you still have the other end of the pig tail (dog bone) exposed to the elements. - bob213ExplorerI suggest the one with the 1 foot pigtail (dog bone adapter).
- harmanrkExplorerOn the adaptors. I see two types in the stores. The first are typically a hard plastic, similar to the smaller household adaptors many of us have seen over the years to plug in the newer three prong grounded cords into older 2 prong outlets (Anyone who has lived in an older house should know of these.), that causes your power cord to stand off the outlet 2 to 4 inches depending on the adaptor. The other type seem to be around a 1 foot pigtail with the different connector ends.
What is the advantage ofeach of these? The hard plastic units seem to be cheaper, however I could see them creating more of a twisting force on the connection as the hanging weight of the cord is placed further from the pole, although with te 'beefyness' of a 50 amp plug, I'm not sure this would be much of an issue. There may also be issues with not allowing the outlet cover to close properly.
Thanks for any information. - 24rulesExplorerthere would not be a problem at all you 30 amp breaker in your trailer will prevent you from overdrawing, it will pop if you try to draw more than 30 amps
- Chuck_GailExplorerSome folks have never seen 50 amp only sites. We have seen dozens over the years. Get the adapter.

They're only $10. at Walmart...... - Chuck_SExplorerI have never seen a 50amp only site. 50amp sites have 50, 30, and 20/15 amp outlets in the same box.
I've carried adapters for over a decade and never needed them other than one time the 30a connector was so corroded I plugged into the 50.

You just may have to cut back you're usage... Two A/C's microwave, and coffee pot might not all get along at the same time with 30A. Just be careful.
