My 2009 3500HD has nav and the back up camera. THe camera image is on the NAV screen.

I wouldn't have it any other way

The NAV is very useful. A GPS sitting on top of the dash never stays put

The wife's factory nav system stopped playing some of her CD's. Stopped buy the dealer they checked it ordered a new on and will swap them out when it gets in. Try that with an after market, when the Pioneer in my truck stopped working the shop that sold it to me, told me they would have to send it back! They told me I should have it back in 4 to 6 weeks. I put the factory radio back in and the Pioneer got chucked in the trash, waste of $300.

The factory systems rival all but the extreme high end systems IMO.

I understand that these radios continue to progress in technology. I have been lucky to have them and need to evaluate their functions.

Your service advisor at the dealer should be able to assist. GM also has some specialist that are available to assist customers.

Hope you are enjoying your Impala.

Not tech savvy.:S Sooo many pages of instruction. I am due for the first service. I will have someone explain it to me. From what I know now, it ain't worth the extra money.

Yes, you can still call OnStar with a Nav Radio. However, if it was a 2014 Impala which has the MyLink Radio, and you must call OnStar, then it is not the Nav radio, just the MyLink. Also, with the 2014 MyLink Radio, the OnStar Turn by Turn directions show in the MyLink Radio.

I have the factory NAV system in my Dodge and I find it easier to use than my phone or my wife's portable Garmin. The turn-by-turn directions show up on the instrumnet panel right under the speedometer which make is easy to see at a glance and the volume on the radio automatically turns itself down when the nice navigation lady is giving me directions. Plus there is no need for additional cords or mounting hardware and no fear of it being stolen or lost when not in use.

For everything else I use either my phone or Garmin.

I can vouch for the new models...still terrible. I hate my NAV unit as well. For no good reason it will take me down side streets, back ways and other impossible places to get out of. I have tried every setting and option to adjust this, still sucks.
