- Go_DogsExplorerI am a bit of a clean freak (RN). Nothing but soapy water from the shower/bathroom sink goes into my grey tank. The black tank gets a thorough clean/rinse when we get home. The waste water tanks are not garbage cans or septic tanks. I cook and do dishes outside.
- solismarisExplorerI use a french press and it's extremely difficult to get all the grounds out without using water. I add enough water to swirl them around and dump this liquidy mess into the trash, then another rinse and dump remainder into the sink. This is at least 1/4 of the grounds, and they go down the drain. No problems yet with clogs or stuck drain valves, been doing this a couple of years.
I wouldn't worry about it; grounds are a lot finer than food scraps - which are more of a problem in my opinion. - mikeflysExplorerSetting myself up for public ridicule. I always dump my coffee grounds down to drain. At home and in my RV. Never gave it a thought before seeng this. Never had a problem, of course I will now that the subject has come up! We use a french press for makeing our coffee, the grounds are very wet so the easiest way to deal with them is down the drain. At home the grounds from the espresso system go down the diposal. I don't do that in my trailer because they are so densly packed.
- md2lgykExplorer IIMy wife doesn't drink coffee, so when we go camping I just drink instant. A coffeemaker's one less thing to haul around.
- just_meExplorerIf you want STINK then do as the OP has stated and put all your left over stuff down the sink. This is where odors come from. When its being dumped it is far more odorous than the black tank. I think that once every thing ferments, its next to impossible to remove.
- 2012ColemanExplorer IIWhere is the guy who installed a garbage disposal in his TT? I'd like to know how THAT is working out... Thread
OP - don't do that! - TexasShadowExplorer III don't dump coffee grains down any sink, especially not the MH tank.
she needs to wipe the grease out of her skillets and leftover food particles out of pans and off plates before washing them. - mobeewanExplorerI have a double sink in the kitchen counter. I use the smaller side to wash dishes and I have a dish rack that fits perfectly in the larger side and placed a stainless steel mesh sink strainer in that side. I dump the grounds from my stainless steel percolator basket in the trash and rinse it in the side of the sink with the screen before washing it in the small side. The screen in the drain side gets cleaned as needed. Very little grounds or food particles get washed down the drain and into the tank.
- Passin_ThruExplorerWe compost, coffee grounds, paper towels, fruit and banana peels, egg shells, filters and napkins. We keep it in a doubled plastic shopping bag and tie it shut.
- fla-gypsyExplorerWe never dump coffee grounds down any sink.
