Just came across this cordless compressor for keeping your tires pumped up

Has anyone tried one of these yet? Does Dewalt have one.
I think for that 3 to 5 pounds needed after being stationary for a couple weeks this seems like a good idea .. particularly if you get one to work on your existing batterys.

I've got the craftsman and anything above 30psi takes forever. Good for low pressure applications.

i use the craftsman bolt-on, which has many different attachments. i keep it and the charger in the TT at all times. i use the drill attachment for raising/lowering stabilizers, use the inflator attachments for tires, and I am probably going to get the impact attachment for changing tires (though I don't mind doing this manually for now). It has worked great, and with a spare battery and a quick boost charger, it has been more than sufficient.

i have a backup cig lighter plug in inflator that i got pretty cheap, keep that in my TV just in case.

I also bought the Ryobi one - for the same reasons. If i try to inflate anything big the hose pops off the end. Its only shoved on a plastic barb and had to take it apart and put a hose clamp on it - which also quickly popped off. If you are using it for small tasks then fine otherwise I have a truck air compressor that I have been using for years.

I too bought the Ryobi. I can't remember exactly how much but it was under $30 without the battery and charger. I already had 3 chargers from other Ryobi tools i bought and several additional 4 amp batteries i bought. It works pretty good for bycicle and riding mower tires. I bought it for light duty work. Haven't used if on a vehicle tire yet. Probably okay for topping off a couple tires. It would probably take a while and need to cool down between multiple tires. There is a you tube video of someone putting 20 lbs of air in a car tire with one and took about 5 minutes. None of the battery powered inflator would be for heavy usage.

Few years ago I got a Harbor Freight inflator that came with a carrying case and clamps that hook to the car battery. I've been using It for the truck and camper. Then I bought a Sears Evolv pancake compressor that use around the house and can carry camping and run off the generator if I need to.

The pump looks okay...for what you are going to use it for. I have a little compressor that works off of 12V that I used to use for mine. It got to be a hassle to use so I bought a small electric compressor from Wally World with a tank that I use now. It fits in the tool box of my truck, easy to get out and plug in. I have a air hose that will reach all my tires. Most of the time I just plug my compressor into the power pedestal at the site. I have tried to get away from the battery operated stuff...batteries cost is the main reason.

Anyone using a Smitty Built 12v compressor? There's a unit on Amazon around the same price as the Viair, but double the CFM.

I have one of the battery ones. It can take a tire up 10 lbs okay, but is close to dead afterwards. I think it's more useful for things like garden carts where power isn't readily available. I also have a 12V cigarette lighter one - that's the one that actually gets used for the car and trailer.

I have a porter cable 18v compressor. Works great on the 30# Subaru and 50# trailer tires. Can't quite reach 80# for the truck tires on battery. Plugged in it will do one tire and then needs to rest for 20 minutes.

Many TC guys surf fish and have to air up/down on a regular basis and rely on portable high PSI units that won't overheat pumping 80+ lbs into a large tire.

Like Old Biscuit I have the Ryobi but since I'm only pumping to 44 for TV and 65 for TT, it works fine. Carry a high pressure bike pump as back up.

I keep a regular foot pump in the trailer. I had to use it to fill my spare once. It took about 15 minutes. The pump was hot, and both my legs were shot, but the batteries were still good. :B

I have the Ryobi one.....already have a garage full of Ryobi Tools and 3 battery chargers so it was a no brainer for $20

Use it for my garden cart wheels, riding mower wheels, hand truck wheels but they are ALL low pressure----10 psi

I haven't even bothered trying it on my trailer tires.

Tried it on truck tires when I was re-adjusting rear tire psi for towing----going from 45 psi to 80 psi
NOPE>...got hot real quick

Might adjust 5 psi or so but I don;t worry/adjust if only 5 psi is needed.

BUT does handle those low pressure needs.

My Dad has the Ideaworks one. It did fine for running his car tires from 25 to 32 psi- all 4. The battery was dead, but it comes with a cigar lighter plug, so worked well. Not sure what the upper pressure limit is though.
