Sounds quite wild indeed! Over 400 miles of Dalton, and around ~200 miles of totally unserviced stretch :EIf we were to drive it, we'd rent a Jeep or buy a disposable pick-up truck to do so :BThanks for the link to the great article!Silver-

I rode the Dalton last year on a motorcycle. Along with Top of the World and Denali. Was going to ride the Dempster but with the amount of rain it was closed part way up.

Plan is an extended trip to Alaska in a few years, with the TC pulling an enclosed trailer with the bike(s)

Just another NY, city-slicker, wanabe wordsmith. I'm tired of pure technique with no substance or reality. And let's get this straight: the Loneliest Highway in America is Highway 50 across Nevada. No other route compares.
Many of us have done both the Dalton and the Dempster, Jeanie and I in 2003. But, there are other options along the way that make both look pretty tame. One is the available 'old road' sections that we took. Another is the road to McCarthy. When you drive over a former railroad grade and find some ties with spikes still sticking out protruding from the road; that's remote.
