- colliehaulerExplorer IIIDo you have a battery disconnect?
Without this your battery will be discharged in as little as two weeks with parasitic loads. This will ruin a battery very quick.
I don't know what year your RV is but most modern RV's have a float mode when battery is charged they maintain when plugged in.
Like I said most batteries are ruined by running them until dead and then recharging. - JaynenExplorerSo I'm going to test the battery with a load now and see what happens. Worst case scenario I'll just throw out the battery and use my other deep cycle battery. And I will only put that in the trailer for when we go to drive so the brakes have a back up. Other than that I'll just keep in disconnected and on my charger in the garage. Too bad this happens but thanks for all the replies.

Mines charging I just want to know if it will over charge. Cuz I took the battery out to check it and all the water was gone! I don't want to buy a new battery and over charge it as well. Although I added new distilled water and Epsom salt and the battery charged fine on my smart charger and showing good volts and no dead cells.
Just because the battery charged doesn't mean it will have any real capacity left.
Additionally when the water has been boiled off like that there is a tendency for the plates to short..
You DON'T want to be around a battery that shorts.. Things get pretty ugly in a hurry.
Get a replacement battery and forget about the old battery.
Now, to prevent boiling in the future, what you can do if you don't want to spend money on a three stage converter is simply turn off the breaker for the converter when not camping. You will need to disconnect the battery or remember to run the converter every week for a day or so.
Alternate to manual turning off the converter is to install a mechanical timer.. Set the timer to power the converter for a hr each day and if you have a 7 day timer you could set the timer to run the converter once a week for 12 hrs..
Even with a three stage converter you MUST check the water levels in the battery.. They will still use water but at a significantly reduced rate.
The only real advantage of a three stage converter is the bulk charging and the desulfination modes.. Bulk mode allows for quick charging and desulfination helps keep the battery in top condition.. - RoyBExplorer IIThe charger is part of your converter function. This provides 12VDC for your trailer needs when plugged into shore power 120VAC. At the same time the converter also charges your battery. If you disconnect the converter/charge unit then it will only run off the battery which defeats the purpose of having dual modes.
The battery provides this 12VDC for your trailer when you are not plugged into shore power.
I would just start looking at your battery every couple of weeks and see if the fluid level is normal. It takes awhile being on 13.5VDC only constantly to boil out the fluids...
Also keep in mind the battery also has another major use and that is when you are towing your over public DOT roads. It is an DOT REQUIREMENT that if your trailer is equipped with electric brakes it must have a safety feature of your trailer battery providing the brake DC VOLTAGE to stop your trailer if it becomes disconnected from the truck when being pulled. This is DOT REQUIRMENT which can be enforced...
Might go bad with your insurance claim as well if the battery is not connected and working when being towed...

I changed mine because of that.
Contact RANDY at BEST CONVERTERS for a slide in replacement. - JaynenExplorerThanks for the posts! Is there a way to disable the charging system? Cuz I will just use a charger I got in my garage and attach the battery to the trailer when we go out.

- RoyBExplorer IIThe Magnetek was bought by Parallax. The 7345 is a 45 amp regulated converter with a fixed 13.5 volt output.
You will need to inspect your battery on a regular bases with this unit to make sure it is not boiling out your battery fluids...
I would plan on replacing it with a moderm SMART MODE Converter/charger unit... IOTA or PROGRESSIVE DYNAMICS are good reliable converter/charger units especially if you plan on adding additional batteries for camping off the power grid...
I would not buy a WFCO COnverter/charger unit as they have a track record of not going into SMART MODE charging when you think they should be...
Contact RANDY at BEST CONVERTERS or get a replacement from AMAZON...

The converter says it's a series 7300 with model number 7345. I think it's magnetic.
Magnetek ... upgrade kits are available. - OasisbobExplorerMy 01 Trail Lite does not charge. Converter has not charged for years. Too spendy to fix.
