Dometic refer question

We're leaving tomorrow morning and when I plugged the TT into our home power, the Dometic refre didn't begin to cool the fridge section. The freezer section on top is cooling great. I was also running the a/c on a 15 amp breaker at the same time. It tripped the breaker early due to the heat but when I reset it all ran apparently fine, except for the reefer. Thoughts? I did switch it over to gas and am trying that now.
  • All is well this morning. I turned it back to 120v last night before we went to bed. If it needed to run on gas all weekend, I wanted to know before we left, so I switched it back. I think DW was anxious to get going. We usually pull it out and start it up a little earlier. Thanks to all restoring my confidence.
  • I always start my fridge on gas, even in WA state, where it's not near as hot as Texas must be this time of year. I start it in the morning and by the time I get home from work, it's cooled down to decent beer temps.

I usually just leave it running on gas, because it'll be opened up quite a bit to load and all and it just seems to recover and stay beer temp better on gas.

Anyway, that's my story and what works for me.. :) Gotta have that beer cold ! ;)

  • It takes my unit a good four hours to get the lower section cold. We turn it on the night before weare leaving to make sure it is good and cold if we are going to be driving for 5 or 6 hours without being plugged in
  • Thanks guys. That's kinda what I thought too. DW was gettin' antsy and swears it never took that long before. Shhhh. but I think it did.
  • The refers we have in TTers take a long time to come down to temp. Give it time.

I turn mine on 24 hours in advance and pre chill the food going in.

Gas will cool it quicker than electric.
  • If the freezer section is getting cold, I can't see why the lower part isn't. Give it a little time, I start ours a few days before heading out, then check it on propane to see.
