Dometic RM2652 version 605A Fridge Rebuild

Ordered a new Amish Built cooling unit for our Dometic fridge today. Should be delivered in a couple days. $748.00 with UPS. I decided on new rather than rebuilt. Looking forward to getting back out and going places again. Got to say, I was surprised at how cheap the fridge is built. A 2" styrofoam box box held together by aluminium backed rubber adhesive. It works just pricey for what it is. I'll let y'all know how it fits back in and performs when done.

    Yes, it sat for a couple days. The compressor broke an internal motor mount in shipping. It worked but shook the entire camper. The second has been fine.

    Did you order an absorption or compressor unit?

    Compressor failed on startup? That's not very reassuring. Did you let the fridge sit a few hours to let the lubricant and coolant settle down after all the handling during Installation or did instructions mention anything about it. I will check instructions but currently plan to let the system settle 24 hours.

    Check through Mortons On The Move on YouTube. They have a good video on swapping an absorption unit for an Amish Built Compressor unit.

    It was in the heat riser. Haven't inspected it but all the coolant residue is on and under the burner.

    Any clue what cost the old unit to fail?
    I have 20 yo fridge, used by me in last 8 years quite a bit and still working perfectly even at 120F.

    This is great Mitch! Now I know someone local that can help me do mine when I convert to a compressor cooling unit!! ;)
