Many tanks don't drain completely so you will have diluted anti-freeze in the system. - dewey02Explorer II

I'd recommend buying the winterization kit that hooks up next to your water pump.
Saves gallons of antifreeze (only takes 1 gallon to fill the lines) and really saves you time in the spring trying to flush out all of the pink stuff from your FW tank, and yeah the taste of your water will suffer even after you flush.
I did it through the FW tank when I got my first TT, but learned from this forum about the winterization kit. WAY EASIER and faster. - bmj11Explorer

I do believe you will love the taste of your water next year - Doug33ExplorerTHANK YOU FOR THE REMINDER. I just went back into the TT and realized I never flushed the RV anti-freeze into the toilet. I let it run for about a minute so there is pink stuff now in the lines and black tank.

- sbowman871ExplorerIf you leave the AF in the lines, relieve the back pressure on the city water connection. The check valve holds a small amount of water behind it. Make sure you stand off to the side when pushing in the valve.
- spadoctorExplorerI just blow everything out including the traps and refill traps with pink. Done this for 20 plus years and no problems at all
- dadmomhExplorerOh, good grief! So glad you mentioned this. I don't think DH did that. Actually don't know if he even did it last year, and maybe we just got lucky. Back for more pink stuff. Such a simple job was a PITA this year between the stuff he normally uses being "lost" somewhere in the garage and he modified the hoses and then dropping one jug on the ground, etc. Sometimes things just don't work like they should.
- BmachExplorer III just used my air compressor and blew it out.
- BB_TXNomadOn mine the black tank flush consist of 10 to 12 feet of small pipe from the connection to the tank. And the last few feet go straight down, so that part will drain into the tank. So it is not going to take much antifreeze for that.
