My dually has commercial registration and normally with it I can park in commercial zones. I know that you can also register station wagon as commercial and enjoy the same privileges. Today , with my camper I had hard time to find parking spot long enough and was tempted to stop at designated commercial zone. I know cops can leave a ticket applying or not, but what do I risk?

Commercial Zone? You mean the truck parking at a rest area? I do that all the time. Easier in and out.

Are you trying to camp in a downtown commercial zone? That isn't what commercial zones are for. Sounds like an attempt to scam the system.

For commerce not camping. Deliveries, pick up etc. A scam for free camping.

Each city/state can have it different, but this is the most common application

In California at least, a slide in camper is defined as a load, and a pickup with a slide in camper is defined as a pickup with a load of cargo. There is no reason you could not park a pickup (which in California must be registered as a commercial vehicle) in a commercial zone.

Loading zones are intended for short term use...to load or unload. So for starters, you would be being a jerk disrupting those who need access for loading.

I'm betting if you parked a UPS truck there for a full day, you would get a ticket as you are not loading or unloading. An RV is going to draw attention much sooner even if it technically is a commercial vehicle.
