Finding a park open in winter.

Cumberland State PK open all year. Just close part of it.

We start by looking on line. Many (Insert who is managing park--state or fed or etc) have "winter" schedules posted on there site. Don't over look city, county parks that don't show up on most peoples radar.

I agree with this post. Cumberland mountain state park is upgrading all sites to 50 amp service. While you can't make a reservation they are taking anyone that pulls up. If you can make this park on the weekend the restaurant has an all you can eat buffet.
Otherwise most state parks have good web sites that seem to be current on their seasons. Good luck.

Check out Boonesboro State Park, just 10 or 15 miles South Of Lexington ,Ky. About 4 or 5 miles off I75 to the East

Also look at the KY Horse Park campground between Georgetown & Lexington Ky.

Both are open year round I believe/ Jim

Smoky Mountains National Park has campgrounds open year round.

And we stop at a couple of Ohio State Parks (Geneva and Shawnee) on our way to the Smokies and Florida. No site water, but Shawnee has an open bath house and electricity. Geneva has only electricity. There's probably one closer to you. I think many Ohio S.P. are open year round.

If you go to woodalls and put in a state, then filter "open all year" you will find a list to pick from. It doesn't have all of them but it will find several.

Indiana parks are open year round, you have electric, but no water. All the water is turned off, but you can still camp at Indiana State Parks. In the winter, you just pull in, find your spot and park. DNR will find you to collect for the night! And it's much cheaper than in the Summer months.

(This is just east of Hwy 109 a cut off I use to avoid Nashville. I use Hwy 25 Exit 112 in TN to Hwy 109 then to 840 and onto I-24 just west of Murfreesboro.

We have stayed here. Located just north of the west bound rest area at Nick-a-jack Lake on I-24

I haven't planned on anything down the line as we'll spend a few days in Atlanta area at in-laws then a one day drive to our FL destination. Hope this helps, have a safe trip.

Kentucky Horse Park is open during winter, but no water. Electric only. They do have a fantastic light display throughout the park.
