Ford 7.3 gas engine

Well, it’s nice to hear that there were SOME differences beyond the fender badges. I’m surprised Ford could sell any of those turkeys. I looked at them just long enough to rule them out.

There was some difference , the f450 had a heavier frame and larger brakes . Axles and wheels were the same as f350.

You can get a centrifugal for the 7.3. Brings the cost inline with the diesel, but the thing gets down pretty **** hard. I'd like to see a roots or screw blowe get released.

So the F450 pickup is literally the only model from F250-F600 that a gasser engine isn’t offered in....
I mean, I think gassers in HD trucks that tow anything significant is silly or at least quite limiting, but why only preclude 1 model out of like 6.

Once you put 5K lbs in the bed of the F450 pickup, it rides just fine. Air suspension and air seats would not be needed by the vast majority of people. Hauling a TC on a cab and chassis F450? You might need air suspension depending on the GVWR of the truck and your tolerance for pain, but in my opinion if you can load a truck up to 90-100% of its weight rating, you’ll be a lot more comfortable than in a truck loaded to less than 75% of its payload rating.

But, to get back to the topic, I’d love to see the 7.3L offered as an option for the F450 pickup. I think it’s got plenty of grunt for hauling the biggest TC’s, and judging by the towing specs for the current Superduty and cab&chassis trucks that you can already get the 7.3L in, I’d expect the maximum trailer towing weight to be about 19-20K depending on the configuration of the truck and whether you’re talking conventional or fifth-wheel/GN towing.

For the 2021 model year, I notice you can get a regular cab and 4x2 in the F450 pickup now. And, it looks like 19.5” tires, wide track front axle, and bigger brakes are all standard for the F450, and not available on the F350. I could swear there were a few years around 2017 that you could also get 17”, 18”, or 20” tires on the F450 pickup. Whatever.....the speed rating on the Continental tires on my truck is around 85 mph. The ECM limits the truck max speed to that, and I’ve yet to need any higher. Personally, I’d rather have the 19.5’s.

Yep, a 1200 pound trailer and no I don't ride my brakes at all.

Like I mentioned before, with 216,000 miles on my factory brakes wearing them out is not an issue.

Mine fully loaded only weight about 6 tons.

I agree that they switched away for a while and NRALIFR said 2011-2014. Newer models of the F450 are back to 19.5s and the heavy suspension.
