Only part of this post that is justifiable, financially and towing ability wise.
Just like the OP, by the time you build a fire breathing 454, super built trans, gear vendors, re-gearing and whatever else is needed (cooling driveshaft mods, etc), you could apply the $5-7k that your Sub is worth, combined with the many $1000s in mods and the future fuel expenses and buy a low mile early/mid 2000s diesel pickup, bone stock, mild canned tune and out pull the Sub past every gas station.
Does sound like a cool hot rod project though and I like hot rods. Just not to be confused with economical and great tow vehicle int he same sentence unless the word "not" is included.
