Full Time Campgound for TT

Hi Everyone,
I figured I would start here with my question and see if I should move my post elswehere- so here goes:

Family member is looking to take ove my TT and head to Florida and live in it full time. I am not familiar with the Fort myers/Sanibel/Cape Coral area-- are there campgounds that allow one to live full time? Up here in Jersey, we can have seasonal sites-March-October but in Florida I don't know much about.

Any insight on how I should proceed with my family member would be great.Thanks.
  • Ditto on trying them out first.

That is what I do as a traveling Full timer and want to set down levelers for a month. I sign up for a day or so at a CG BEFORE I decide to stay for a month.

Unlike the midwest where we have what is called seasonal sites which are costly and usually require a contract, Florida does not have seasonal sites per sea. Cause they're open all year round. :W

Central Florida and North Central Florida have very reasonable nice CG's that offer monthly, 6 month and yearly stay rates. Actually the longer you sign up for the rates are lower.

If you want to stay on the coast lines and/or in popular tourist areas yes it will be very costly.

Also keep in mind that in Florida it is usually CG policy to quote you a rate that does NOT include electric. you need to know what that will add to your rate, as it is billed separate. Good Luck!
  • If cost is a consideration, head to central Florida where full time rates are lower. But wherever you look, you need to visit the campground/resort personally. On our recent Florida trip, we checked out 3 rv resorts in Fort Myers and they were very crowded with small sites. We stayed at the Sunshine RV Resort just south of Lake Placid (which is south of Sebring) and it is a nice park with reasonable rates. But there are sooo many parks in Florida and they range from really dumpy to very nice, so you have to really look carefully. Beware of parks that don't show pics of their RV sites....usually means their crowded and small.
  • This isn't a question about campgrounds in Florida. It's a question about a family member. Who is the family member? Are selling the TT to them? Are they borrowing it?

If it isn't my child, personally I would not loan it out. Even if it was my child, there would be conditions. Otherwise, they buy it.

If it was my child, they would probably have to buy it.

Either way I don't care what campground they park at, I don't own the TT.

Just looked at what I said above. Don't loan it. Sell to the family member. Then you don't care where it is parked.
  • I would not move to any area until I have tries it for several months. one persons paradise can be another so-so park.

I found a campground off the gulf side that was great if you like to fish. If you like to golf you would not like it at all.

You will get some good advise from these folks but the definately try before you commit
  • I'm guessing that almost all of them would welcome a permanent guest. Best to check them out next time you are down there to see which one(s) meet your needs. Some are wooded and some are open range, etc. Some have pools and some do not, etc.
  • I would google the campgrounds in that area and make phone calls to ask the questions specific to your needs.
I just did that and came up with too many to list.
