This new trailer of ours has the propane regulator screwed into the front of the box. What is up with that? Are there some new safety features in it or something? I liked it when the regulator was connected straight to the tank. This one is really in the way. I would like to replace it so that isn't such a pain. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,Normally the regulator is attached directly to the 5 gallon tank, and then will go to a switch over tank selector under low propane pressure, then to the pipe that goes to all the appliances. This avoids expensive high pressure propane lines, that would need to be rated at 400 - 500 PSI. Can you post a picture? That would be first posted to something like PhotoBucket.com and make sure that it is listed as "Anyone can look at it" - so it is not password protected. Then copy the URL of that picture (CTRL C) and go to the "Advanced post" section, and click on that. Click on the little postcard looking thing, and it will open a new subroutine. On the top line, click on that then (CTRL V) to paste the URL in that box. Put height and width in (not to exceed 600) 500 high and 600 wide usually works well for me. A picture will help a lot. You might also be looking at the propane leak detector shut off valve. It will run on 12 VDC, so will have two wires going to it. This keeps the propane on until the leak detector trips, then shuts off the valve and propane flow.Good luck,Fred.

I assume by "box" you mean right at the bottom of the trailer front wall where the hose normally connects. If so and it is for a single tank sounds like they were being cheap with the installation and used a hose and regulator similar to a BBQ grill or other propane appliance.

It is a single tank, and it is an entry-level trailer. I won't feel bad about replacing it. It really is in the way. Thanks.

I mounted one of the dual tank racks to the trailer tongue of a pop up and older TT trailer I have that had single tank regulators. I only used the pop up for 3 to 4 day trips. I could change the regulator hose from one tank to the other if needed when I didn't top off tanks before a trip and I could always connect a separate hose and regulator to the second tank for a grill or table top oven I carried. for longer trips I would use the trailer and swap the hose on the tanks as needed.

I thought about putting dual tanks on, but we really don't need them. Our longer trips are at hookup sites. We've never, in previous trailers used up a single bottle. So I think I'm just going to move the regulator. Thanks.

Never seen one mounted like in your picture. I was thinking the regulator itself was connected to the trailer gas lines where your bottom hose is connected to the trailer (without the bottom hose). Do you have room on the tongue in front of the battery to mount a dual tank rack like this one?

Your regulator bracket can be mounted to the tank rack bracket with machine screws and lock nuts probably with the existing holes lining up.

Not really knowing the front end layout, can't you simply relocate it? Looks like the hoses would be long enough.

I had the same issue. However mine was that the genius installing it placed the reg too low. So when they addeded the battery it rubbed against it and the single battery box would slide hitting it as battery would not strap properly. I notched the cover of the battery box on our first trip out and strapped the battery tightly with a tow strap. I was afraid the battery would rip it off on a turn.

On my list before next trip is to drop it a few inches to avoid contact. Luckly there is enough slack in the hose to do this.

It's just in the way. The tongue is already space challenged. Harbor Freight has some cool boxes for the trailer tongue. Thinking of getting one.

There's really no technical reason to replace the regulator. But if you just don't like it there you can easily replace it.
