- jerem0621Explorer IIThe only one I have seen is the Ike Gauntlet run by the TFL guys.
It did okay. They don’t manually shift the truck so I normally don’t give a lot of credence to their tests. I gear up and down my vehicles manually when dealing with mountains.
I think it will be a fine motor and an excellent platform in the real world.
Thanks!
Jeremiah - Itchey_FeetExplorerThanks 0621, I watched their test also but was hoping that a few fellow RVers had towed with this engine in a 2500 or 3500 and had any feelings about the combo engine and transmission.
- All_I_could_affExplorerI was unaware they offered a 6.6 gas motor

New for the 2020 model year. - Curly2001Explorer IIJust traded an 07 2500HD Chevy with a 130,000 miles for a 2019. Did not want to be one of the first to try out the new 6.6 engine. Been there done that with new design products. Purchased the good old 6.0 gasser and will see if I made the wrong choice or not down the road....so to speak. Hope everyone has/had a nice holiday.

The 6.6 is a bulked up 6.2 with an iron block, so not entirely new.

Any real time towing with this engine out there?
For whatever it's worth, Motor Trend had some pretty negative comments about it and the 6 speed trans in the truck of the year testing in the latest issue. - wowens79Explorer III

I’ve been looking for info too, and I’ve seen a couple of videos from the press event in Oregon that testers made some comments about the trans.
I test drove a Chevy and Ram gasser back to back, and the Ram 8spd shifted much better than the Chevy. The Chevy when I turned and started up a hill was turning like 1200 rpm, and tried to stay in that gear and bog. It eventually downshifted to over 2500rpm.
I really want to stay with Chevy since my current one has been great for 17 years and 238k miles, but after the test drive the only reason I’m still considering Chevy is how good my old one has been. - Me_AgainExplorer IIIThe Hemi with the 8spd is reported to be great. Even the smaller 8.4 NAV beats the GM one. Chris
